Hong’s 24th feature starring Kim Minhee and Seo Younghwa, won the Silver Bear for best director at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, March 12, 2020 – CMC Pictures announced the acquisition of The Woman Who Ran, written and directed by Hong Sangsoo,from the sales agency Finecut. The film just won the Silver Bear Award for Best Director in the 70th Berlinale. This was Hong’s fourth invitation to the Berlinale Competition, following his Silver Bear for Best Actress winning title On The Beach At Night Alone in 2017. CMC Pictures will bring the film to Australia and New Zealand.
Directed by Hong Sangsoo (Hotel By The River, The Day After, On The Beach At Night Alone) and starring Kim Minhee (Hotel By The River, On The Beach At Night Alone) and Seo Younghwa (On The Beach At Night Alone), The Woman Who Ran follows the story of Gamhee (Kim Minhee), who meets three female friends, two by the appointments and the other by chance, while her husband is away on a business trip. As they make friendly conversation, several currents flow independently above and below the surface of the dialogues.
